Gustavs Māliņš represents Latvia at the prestigious CIK-FIA Karting Academy

Latvia is also represented this year at the International Automobile Federation (CIK-FIA) at Karting Academy, the first stage of which is currently taking place from May 4 to 6 in Salbris, France. Latvia's representative, like last year, is young and talented - Gustavs Māliņš.

Already on Wednesday, Māliņš with the team traveled to the Salbris route to take the first trainings and make it to the first stage of the Academy. We would like to note that during the last year of the Karting Academy, Māliņš showed a solid performance and won the 23rd place in a total of 51 competitors, which is a rather high result.

Slightly the same as the CIK-FIA Karting Academy. This is especially due to the fact that all members of the Karting Academy start with one-man technique. During the race, the engines must change. The fastest riders are learning slow-moving riders and vice versa. This means that competition in the fight for victory is made as close as possible, as the winner will be determined by the talent of the rider, the team's ability to regulate the technique in accordance with the trajectory and the requirements of the athlete. Athletes age - 12 to 15 years.

Before the important start, we contacted Gustavs coach and mechanic Dainis Safonovs, who gave a brief insight into the feelings before the first start: "The first training sessions have been completed, we can share the impressions. The feelings before the competition are positive, the goal of course, this year, starting the second year is much higher and the Top 10 would be a good result, the truth is, the composition of the riders this year is very strong. There are many high-level riders from all over Europe. The weather is very good, it stays warmer every day. The track in France is quite complicated and not yet cope with a couple of bends, the workout results show that it will be a difficult and hard fight, we have not yet found the right regulations, but we hope that we have made the wrong choices today and the sequel will be good. This year, the Academy runners start with tires from another manufacturer with which we drive for the first time, which is also an added difficulty. There are already some ideas in mind about how to improve the outcome. But in the end, the driver is determined down all the time, so let's drive more. "

We are really proud that Gustavs is ready to fight hard with his team and we are confident that we will be expecting such a latvian athlete too. We wish Gustavs good luck and endurance, and for the coach, choose the best regulation and ride strategy.
