The new karting season of 2022 has arrived in Latvia. Let's try to summarize the most important things that should be known and what to expect in the new seasons.
The opening of the season is already this Sunday 01.05. with the traditional Edgar Skulte Memorial Cup in Kandava. All Rotax classes with relaxed rules and the Tillotson T4 class will take part, where the first stage in the fight for the place in the world Tillotson Cup competition at the end of the season will be completed.
The Latvian championship will be held in five stages in seven categories - all six Rotax classes and KZ2. Technical regulations in Rotax classes according to Rotax Max Latvia challenge cup regulations. Class KZ2 technical regulations in accordance with the approved Latvian championship technical regulations in this class - the most significant changes there are that VEGA XH3 (green) model tires must be used in this class. This year there is also a one joined competition in Lithuania on September 9-10. In the restored karting track of Siauliai. The competition will take place in Siauliai together with the Lithuanian Championship. In this way, an attempt is being made to launch a joint national championship competition in the Baltic States.
Competition calendar:
Stage 1 Kandava 20-21.05.
Stage 2 Madonna 10.-11.06.
Stage 3 Smiltene 29.-30.07.
Stage 4 Jelgava 12.-13.07.
Stage 5 Siauliai, Lithuania 09.-10.09.
The Rotax Max Latvia Challenge Cup will traditionally run in parallel with the Latvian Championship competition, as well as one stage is planned together with the Rotax Nordic Latvia stage, creating a total of six stages. This year's Rotax Grand Finals are scheduled for November 19-26, 2022 in Portimao, Portugal. In Latvia, four tickets to the Grand Finals are available in the following classes: MiniMax, Junior, DD2 and DD2 Masters.
Competition calendar:
Stage 1 Kandava 20-21.05.
Stage 2 Madonna 10.-11.06.
Stage 3 Smiltene 29.-30.07.
Stage 4 Jelgava 12.-13.07.
Stage 5 Kandava 19.-20.08.
Stage 6 Siauliai, Lithuania 09.-10.09.
The Pro-Kart Cup this year will run in four stages in seven categories. Raket, Micro60, PK MicroMax - all three are children's classes, designed as low-budget categories to start go-karting experiance. Raket can already be said to be a historical class, the Micro60 is a very popular class in Estonia and Lithuania, and the PK MicroMax is a class based on the Rotax MicroMax, but with much lighter technical rules. The TK class - a popular class that uses four-stroke Honda GX engines or their analogues - is basically a class for those who like to engage in engineering - the class is relatively free in its technical regulations, which allows the expression of engineering talents. Tillotson T4 - a mono class based on the principle of "arrive and drive" - all athletes have the same chassis, engines and tires, the only option is to vary with gears and driving skills. In this class, like Rotax, a ticket to the Tillotson World Cup at the end of the season is played out. Then we have two historic classes for adults M125 and CZ125. The M125 is basically based on the use of Minsk engines. The CZ125 is based on the use of Čezet engines, and this class also allows the use of Western-style air-cooled engines with a gearbox. This year's innovation or return to racing is the Open125 class. Class for beginners and hobby drivers. In this class, the technical rules are very loose - practically the only limiting factor is the engine capacity - 125 cubic centimeters; they are basically sports karts, doesn't matter new or old, with or without a gearbox. The class is very suitable for those who have sports karting at home, but do not have an ambitious goal to become a Latvian or World Champion, as well as for those who want to try their hand at karting; respectively participants who just want to compete and have fun.
Competition calendar:
Stage 1 Kandava 20-21.05.
Stage 2 Madonna 10.-11.06.
Stage 3 Smiltene 29.-30.07.
Stage 4 Jelgava 12.-13.07.
Competitions for MicroMax, MiniMax and Junior classes are planned for August. Rotax Grand Finals tickets will not be played out in the competition, but the main prize for the winner will be a brand new Rotax engine. Technical regulations in Rotax classes according to the regulations of the Rotax Max Latvia Challenge Cup. Within the framework of this competition, racing are also planned for the class Retro - historical karting, which will be the only event for them this year, as well as in cooperation with Lithuanian colleagues we plan to bring Baby class karting, where the youngest contestants will be able to take the first steps in karting.
The competition is scheduled for Madonna 5.-6.08.
We will close the season with the traditional four-hour team competition in Kandava on 01.10. karting category conventional Rotax DD2.
We very much hope that this season will be a success and that each of us will receive a dose of satisfaction.
See you on the track - come and join the karting family!
Wish You great success!
