Already this weekend in Portugal, Portimao will take place the prestigious CIK-FIA Karting Academy 2nd stage. Valters Zviedris with the team goes to Portugal today. The second stage applied for the starting composition - unchanged, but strongly variable is Valters readiness for this step. "I am out of tune to a competitive fight on the track, and I have got to know my competitors and carting technical detail specifics," admits Valters. It is recalled that Zviedris is the only Latvian representative in the CIK-FIA Karting Academy. In Academy class Valters will have 50 competitors from 37 countries. Race promises to be very spectacular, because without the Academy riders will take to the starting 41 and OK and OK-79 Junior class racers.
On Thursday, Valters and his team will get their Exprit kart, which was used during the french and engine raffle will take place in this stage. In the first stage, France "Vortex" factory supplied engines were completely new and they each pilot himself needed to test them. Valters father and manager Aigars Zviedris: "It is hoped that he will be at a competitive engine, and that the plant will be prepared as much as possible a level playing field for all pilots. As knowledge and lessons learned from the first french stage we already have, then we believe that we can find the right framework to Saturday and Sunday to achieve high-quality results." On Friday there will be four 20-minute long feature practice. Saturday qualifying will take place on the trip time and two pre-drives which will earn points and set the starting place on Sunday intended pre-final and final trips.
After negotiations with the same Valters, one thing is clear - the fight will take place until the end and this time it will already be much constructive and with real opportunities to climb on the podium. "After the first race of the Esse track, I've watched a lot of video material Youtube channels directly to travel Portimao track and tried to work out the best technique as to lead the trips. Together with the team we have also studied in depth kart engine technical specifications in order to be ready for this step to 100%. I feel ready and committed. If the first stage of a personal goal was to get into pre-final, respectively, to be at least at 25 position, then clearly this time is more demanding - Top 10 or even Top 5! ", reveals Valters. It is recalled that Valters didn’t get any points in France, but considering pre-drives and presented the results of the total score in the table in the middle - 26 place. The table is available here: www.cikfia.com/competitions/cik-calendar/2016/portimao/academy/championship-standings.html
We remind that CIK-FIA Karting Academy is unique in that all participants starts racing with one manufacturer's equipment - OTK Group Expirit Kart with Vortex OK Junior engine. Kart frames participants raffles for all three stages, but the engines - for each stage separately. This means that competition in the fight for victory is made similar to the maximum, because the winner will determine the driver's talent, teamwork skills to regulate the sale in accordance with the track characteristics and requirements of the athlete.
Valters Zviedris until now can boast of a two-fold Latvian karting championship title in 2009, the Micro class and in 2015 Rotax Max Junior category. In addition to these titles Valter’s has a number of Latvian and Baltic championships medals in each of the karting season spent in learned race victories and awards.
Portuguese stage will be able to keep up with the internet live at www.cikfia.tv selecting the Live TV section, as well as www.prokart.lv section CIK FIA TV. As well as the information will be posted on Facebook accounts – Valters Zviedris Karting Pilot and Aigars Zviedris.
