Today on startup to "Neste World RX of Latvia" went out not only our Supercar talented riders Reinis Nitišs and Jānis Baumanis, but the RX Lites class riders – Mārtiņš Lapiņš, who participated in the competition JC Race Teknik team, and the SRT team member Vasīlijs Grjazins. RX Lites class a total of 12 participated in the race. So far, Mārtiņš was driving with karts career and shown very good results. The most important of them - Triple Latvian champion in karting and two times Baltic vice-champion in 2010 Rotax Euro Challenge.
After the first day trips Mārtiņš was between shared 6 and 9 position overall. By contrast, today's fourth qualifying trip started with a very good start, followed by a not too successful sequel. Weather conditions deteriorated visibility, mist Lapiņa vehicle's windscreen and bend before the finish line was to catch concrete enclosure. The result - the last position in the Qualifying Race. Semi-finals, a fierce battle with Kenyan athletes, but unfortunately very little - 11 seconds, were missing until the first entry in first third positions and opportunities come to the start in the final.
Mārtiņa Lapiņa comments after the race: "Yesterday and today, as a whole went pretty well. Yesterday after 3 qualification runs in the sixth position. By contrast, today's Qualifying Race 4 demisting glass and ran inside edges of the concrete wall, broke a wheel, as a result, was left in the ninth position after the qualification runs. Accordingly, the semi-finals I participated from the internal side of the third row. I was up to fourth position and got the stiffening of the Kenyan driver, resulting in front-wheel drive and had refused to continue to run with back-wheel-drive that will not guarantee a stable ride."
This was Mārtiņš first experience of the great rallycross. "Previously, I had rided with VAZ car and I spent one race in Sweden with the RX Lites car, exactly the same with someone went on the track today."
About future in Rallycross Lapiņš speaks positively: "Very interesting discipline, a lot of viewers, fans and supporters. I would like to drive a whole next season, but that, of course, will depend on the supporters and sponsors. "
Also, his kartinh athlete in the future does not intend to sell, because certainly also wants to participate in the next season as many Latvian Karting stages. "Karting maintains a very good shape and, of course, the race experience."
When asked about this "Neste World RX of Latvia 'stage experience gained Martiņš believes that very positive is that the track had the opportunity to try both dry and wet weather conditions. Accordingly, it was modified and tested the various car settings. "In general I am happy with my performance. Also, the team is satisfied and wants to see me in their composition below. Expressed some tempting offers. The team is very professional and the other riders are those of which could be much more to learn and happy to continue the cooperation with them! "
We wish Mārtiņš a good luck and success and welcome with great experience in first, so high level of Rallycross stage!
