Tomass continues to break Latvian records and please the Latvian karting family and all his other supporters, relatives and simply fans, with seemingly unfathomable results for the Latvian mind in the world karting arena.
As a rookie in the KZ2 class, Tomass demonstrated the stability of a grandmaster and in the sum of two stages, he was able to stand on the bronze step, ahead of the experienced drivers of this class, as well as other rookies, with whom Tomass competed in the Junior times and this year continues to compete in the Senior category.
British driver Freddie Slater won the continental gold with a total of 150 points. Silver for Romanian Daniel Vasile, who was able to collect 105 points. Tomass has 87 total points and third place respectively.
The final stage took place in Italy, at the Sarno Kartodrome from July 7 to July 9. While in Latvia, Tomas' sister, Alice, competed in the Micro-Mini-Junior Baltic Festival and also won third place in the Junior competition, Tomass demonstrated a very stable and convincing performance from the first racing meters. Fifth best lap time in qualifying. Finished second in the first and second heats. In the third heat, no one was faster than Tomass - one small victory in the account. Third place and fastest lap time in the fourth heat. In the fifth heat, Tomass was again unbeatable - the first place at the finish and the fastest lap time. Summing up all heat results, Tomass held on to his fifth place in qualifying, which gave him a second row start in Super Heat A. The super heats were a serious test for the drivers, because they have to drive with the same tires used in the heats, which means that the condition of the tires had to be maintained at the level, the drivers had to save a little bit of tires in all the races in order to have enough for the super heats. Tomass managed his tires very well keeping them alive and finished his race in third place. Tomass started the final from the sixth starting position - there were uncompromising battles throughout the race, but Tomass apparently kept calm and slowly improved his position on the track, in the end he even had the opportunity to fight for the podium in the stage, but it is not really known whether Tomass himself calculated in his head that for the overall ranking is enough fourth place, whether someone from the team passed on the information to the driver not to take unnecessary risks, it is no longer of any importance. Tomass steered safely to the finish, winning the fourth place in the stage and bronze in the season overall.
We congratulate Thomas on his great achievement and wish him luck in the future starts, because the season is not over yet - the European Championship in the OK category is ahead, as well as the World Championships in the KZ2 and OK categories. We continue to follow Thomas' achievements.
