From 17.05. until 19.05. Jesolo, Italy hosted the annual Historic Kart Show. The Baltic states were represented at this event by 7 delegates, former karting drivers.
Urmas Pajumets came from Estonia, who is unofficially the leader of the Baltic team, he has been participating in this historic karting show for several years and always invites other karting enthusiasts with him. Uelar Jeblakov and Anti Kiiver were also in the Estonian team. Latvian colors were represented by Andris Štāls, Dainis Ozoliņš, father and son Valdi Brutāni (junior and senior). The representative of Ukraine, Andrey Mostovoy, also joined the Baltic team.
The event consists of practices on the track for the whole three days. Karts are divided into six categories according to the years of their production. A special jury evaluates the correspondence of the karts to the original performance. This event is not about who can complete a lap of the track faster, but who will have done the restoration work most accurately.
The Baltic team showed to Europe the karts produced during the "Soviet" years, AKY, AK and KC chassis with Cezet and Minsk engines. The Estonians also brought a kart from the sixties with a Estonia K5 chassis and Kovrovec engine, this copy received the main prize of the event in 2023. The team also had Formula-C and Formula Super A karts. Unfortunately, this year no exhibit received the highest evaluations of the jury, but once again, new friends and acquaintances have been gained all over the world, from whom to learn and maybe also to look for some rare parts, in order to be able to continue the restoration work on a rare and old kart.
The next retro karting meeting in Latvia is scheduled for June 28-29. in Madona, where the children's and youth cup competition, combined with the historic karting competition, will take place.
